Why is storytelling so important?
Storytelling teaches lessons throughout generations. Even though the story might not be true, you can gather lessons from every story that you hear. Indigenous people have had stories for thousands of years, and even if the stories aren’t written down, they are still very important. Stories would help teach the younger generations valuable lessons to help them survive and thrive.
The story that I chose is Orca’s Song, and the lesson I could draw from it is to respect the land and people around you, as the women did on Vancouver Island’s shore. It is such an important lesson to learn, because respecting people and the land means that you will get respect back.
