This week in PreCalc, we wrapped up our unit on absolute values, it was an interesting unit and I definitely learned so much new information. For this weeks blog post, I’m choosing to talk about multiplying and dividing radicals. This was by far my favourite thing lesson we did this year, so far.

Basically we take an equation like (3x+4)(2x-5), which we did last year, and we turn it into something like this (√3 +6)(√9-4). I love it because we get to use FOIL (expanding the equation) and then we get to simplify it and make sure it is in the lowest terms.

To multiply radicals, all you need to do is just multiply the coefficient with the coeffiecient and then the whole numbers with the whole numbers. It can be really simple if you follow the steps and make sure you double check everything to make sure you didn’t skip anything. I think it’s fun but sometimes the expressions can get really long and difficult and I will be doing an example of one of those questions:
