Elemental Infofluency

In making my presentation I needed to ask some questions in order to get the correct information, make sure everything was accurate and see if this information was valuable in my presentation, for example, I asked what zirconium was used for and what were its common uses, another one I asked was where did zirconium come from, where did the name and person who found it come from. I also needed to ask if this information was real and if it was being said on other websites. To try and find the answer to these questions I used many different websites, I started with gale engage and I found nothing that had answers or information on my questions so I looked at world book online which had a whole article answering my questions but I still had a few left that hadn’t been answered so I looked on google and found a website named biography on Martin Heinrich Klaproth that had a short paragraph on him that had his birthday, where he was from when he died and different websites said the same information so it was true. Trying to find information on my element was easy at first when I was trying to find simple information but when I started to try and get more difficult questions it was harder to find websites that were true and that gave me a direct answer, so I had to look at different websites that were saying the same thing to see if it was true and make sure that I wasn’t getting false information. When I found a good source of information I copied the URL code at the top ad put it into my slide so it can say where I got my info from. Overall the process of this started off well when I was getting simple and easy-to-find info but started to not go very well when it was getting harder to find all the correct info and finding good sources and pictures was getting harder as well, near the end, it went well and I found everything I needed to answer my questions and get extra for my presentation. I could improve on trying to find better websites and taking more time to find better sources than what I already have.

Grammar Project Video – Simple and Compound Sentences

Our grammar rule is Simple and Compound sentences. In our video, we explained the simple and basic rules of simple ad compound sentences. Simple sentences contain a subject and a predicate which is known as an independent clause and this sentence can be by itself, but a compound sentence contains more than one subject and more than one predicate so more than one independent clause most of them time it two but could be more this sentence can also stand on its own both of these sentences tend to be short. Simple and Compound sentences contain no dependent clauses. A predicate explains what the clause (subject) is doing or what it is. Independent clause contains at least one subject and predicate, and that’s how simple and compound sentences are made they are straightforward but used almost every day in all type of writing. An example of a simple sentence is “The waves crashed onto the sandy shore” this sentence includes an independent clause with predicate and subject, the subject is waves and the shoreline, and the predicate is explaining the water crashing onto the shore. Another example this time a compound sentence would be “Mary went to work, but John went to the party, and I went home.” now this one has more than one independent clause so it makes it a compound sentence. I personally use compound sentences more than simply because it gives more detail in writing since it contains more, and everyone uses them a lot more without realizing it.

There are a lot of different strategies to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe. Here are the main three ways, strategy 1: always double-check what you post and comment on other people’s posts, and make sure it’s appropriate for others to see it can ever be undone. strategy 2: make your accounts private if you don’t feel safe with random people following you/ looking through your account. Strategy 3: delete any old or unused accounts on any socials, some of those accounts that still follow you will have all your personal information and more from those old/unused accounts.

How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities? Give at least 2 examples:

Your digital footprint will always be online no matter how hard you try and delete everything. A lot of the time your digital footprint shows a lot of who you are as a person, if you are a person that parties plenty or goes out and will post everything and anything from those events without caring it may affect your future, you could lose friendships from something you’ve posted years back and regret it now. Another effect that may occur in the future is not being able to get a job, they always look back on your digital footprint and if it shows you are irresponsible or won’t take the job seriously they may reconsider their choice and pick someone else for the job even though those posts were from awhile ago.
