Assimilation vs. Inclusivity
What I see in this image is all the children before they went to the residential schools all colorful, happy, in their cultural clothes and no stress but you can slowly see their faces change before they go in and when they are in the schools. When they are in the schools you can see how all the color has gone away and all their emotions are serious and scared and you can just see how much the school has changed them. Like I said color in this image is an important thing, because it shows how everything can go all good too bad in a specific amount of time when you could least expect it. The effect the color has on this image is you can clearly tell when they start to lose their spark as soon as they go inside of the school due to how much trauma they delt with. Another important thing is lighting, which shows how fast everything can change, which is similar with color. How this specific photo affects the mood is when there was color in their life you can also see how it was bright and sunny as well, but when it turned all black and white you can tell that all their happiness had been crushed. All their gazes are the same, like I said at the very start every child looks happy, excited, and even stress free. But when they enter the school all their gaze is sad, traumatized and all they want to do is see their family.
