DesmosPortraitMath10FPC2024

I am Gabe and this is my Desmos Equation Self-Portrait Assignment.

– Write to explain your creative and critical thinking process as you worked to create your self-portrait using equations. Which equations did you use for each body part? How did you move them around and change their shape? Did you have any challenges? Any aha moments? Did you get help? Did you use any strategies? What did this assignment help you understand about functions, relations and their graphs? Be specific and use mathematical language.

Well, to begin, I started by making an ellipse for the bottom half of my face, cut it in half, and put a semicircle for the top portion of my head. I used parabolas for the eyes, and more ellipses for the eyebrows, and lines for the mouth. It was difficult to remember the equations for each function and relation; I repeatedly had to refer back to my math book or ask a friend. I did not approach this assignment with any specific strategy, which I regret, I understand now that you must have a plan when dealing with mathematical equations and graphing. It was harder than I expected. I should have added an image of myself and made functions over the lines and contours of my face, but what happened happened. Anyway, I’m reasonably contented with this styling of my image, if you squint and shake the screen around, it looks exactly like me, so there’s that. Thanks!

Linear Equations in General Form

Our task was to create a linear equation in general form parallel to a line assigned to our favourite season which passes through coordinates matching our birthday. (day, month) As my favourite season is fall, my equation had to be parallel to 7x – 2y – 8 = 0. After doing all the calculations, the new line passing through my birthday coordinates is 0 = 7x – 2y +1 in general form. (My birthday is July 25) Indeed, the slope is 7/2 and the y-intercept is at (0,1/2). In other forms, this equation is equal to y = 7/2x + 1/2 in slope-intercept form, and y – 25 = 7/2 (x – 7) in point-slope form. I have included a screenshot from Desmos graphing calculator showing the original line in red, and my new line in blue.

Flag Pole Lab Math 10 2024

During this lab, we had to measure the height of the flag pole in front of Riverside using trigonometry and a clinometre. The results of everyone in my class wildly varied and even my results differed. However, I received an average of 9 metres which seems accurate. It is difficult and frustrating to bring trigonometry into real life with inaccurate measuring tools
