Introduce the documentary and give a quick synopsis of the plot.

The documentary film gave details and talked about the history of Nintendo, showed a lot of video’s, story’s and talked about who created it. It showed films of Jeff Hanson competing for Nintendo back in the 90’s.

Expository, because it was telling a story about Nintendo. It could also be reflexive because it was telling a personal story.

c) What techniques are used in this documentary?

Natural sound break, also b-roll because all of the shots did not include interviews.

d) Comment on the natural sound breaks?

Natural sound break, some parts of the films was focused on the sound of what was happening

e) Comment on the voiceover style?

The voiceover style engaged audience, and the speaker spoke is clear and smoothly.

A) What is a documentary film?  

Documentary film is an educational and entertainment purposes, it shows realistic perspective of events and is used in different type of films. 

b) Introduce the mini documentary we watched in class and what it is about.

The mini documentary we watched was about Joe and what he went through growing up, his perspective about residential school, his point of view and his passion with skateboarding. 

C)What type of documentary was this? 

Expository. It included details, narrative based, he was telling a story, it could also be performative because it used a lot of different types of styles.

D) What elements made this documentary appealing (use vocabulary we covered in the handout)? 

He shared his perspective with description such as voice over, point of view and factual.

Propaganda in 1984

What is propaganda?

Propaganda is information that is biased and is used to persuade.

 

How does propaganda appear throughout the novel?

On going telescreens to persuade the workers or people to making them think that the government  is doing something right.

 

Diversion is a issue that is threating or embarrassing, making the whole issue un interesting, giving the attention directed away from the issue. Winston likes to imagine things, the posters in the wall scares him because he thinks that it’s alive. Pejorative is like a code name or an idea that is easy to remember without explaining what it is an example is “black haired girl” which is Julia.

A political spectrum is a graph that has different categories of political positions. 

b) What is the difference between left and right politics?

The left side is politics and the right side is conservative.

c) What is the difference between authoritarian and libertarian governments?

Authoritarian is controlling and libertarian is more open to laws.

d) Where does the government of Ingsoc and Big Brother fit along the political quadrant scale? Explain.

Ingsoc and the big brother  is more with the authoritarian.
