In this lab we made a model of the universe expanding. We blew a balloon up to a size of a baseball, then put a dot by the mouth of the balloon and labeled it M. We then put 5 more dots and label them A-E. This expieriment was meant to show us how far the galaxies are moving away from each other. The balloon represents the fabric of the universe and the dots represent galaxies the dot labeled M represents the Milky Way. We found that the closer the Galaxy the distance increased more than others far away. I think this was a great way to represent the universe expanding because it was a great visual to show and it helped me understand. I still wonder about if two galaxies are far away from each other can they still have a gravitational pull on each other.
