Political Ideology Discussion Reflection Socials 10 2017

During this unit we were asked to research a specific political ideology and evaluate their different beliefs and values. Then the entire class was involved in a discussion, in which we were provided different scenarios and had to provide a reform or bill that was according to the political belief. My group was assigned fascism, which was originated in the 1920’s by Benito Mussolini, proving to be the most ruthless and effective government. Fascism is usually placed on the far-right within the traditional left-right spectrum. They believed that the state was more important than the individual and fear was often used a motivational tool by the government over the masses. Fascist regimes believe that all actions should be done for the good of the state, rejected classical liberalism. I found this activity very interesting and engaging. During this process I was able to learn about different ideologies and become more aware of my own personal values and beliefs. Although, I also found certain aspects of this discussion very challenging and complex. I found it difficult to accept and justify a political ideology that I did not agree with. However this forced me to become more conscious and aware as an individual. In conclusion I was glad to participate in this educational and memorable activity.
