Week 17 – Pre Calc 11

This week, in Pre-calc we went further into trigonometry with the sine and cosine law, as well as some other new stuff, but the sine law is what I’ll be covering in this post. So since it’s trigonometry we’ll start with a triangle, and from there find either an angle or a side. This is the triangle I’ll start with and from here will find the other two angles.

First, we’ll write out the Sine Law, that looks like this.

Then, just plug the numbers from the triangle into the Sine law, and solve for SinC.

This part can be kind of confusing, but as long as you follow the formula type thing in the photo it should give you a small decimal number that you can then multiply by inverse sine for your angle.

From there, we know that the total of all angles in the triangle will be 180, meaning we can easily find the remaining unknown one. 180 – 72 – 62 = 46. From here, finding the sides is a similar situation, and can be done by using the sine law reciprocated.
