PE 9 Substance Abuse Role Play

Scenario:

Your friend has been low on cash lately and our friend wants to drink at the party on the weekend and has been selling prescription drugs that were at home in order to have money to the party. Your friend tells you about what a great “business” it is becoming and that you should consider doing the same. 

 

Roleplay:

 

 

Questions:

  1. What are the influences involved in your role play? (i.e., difference of opinion, going against your values, pressure from friends, pressure from a dating partner, etc.) 

The influence in the role-play is from a friend. The friend is trying to influence the characters to join them in their business.

 

      2. Explain how your conflict/issue was resolved. What skills were used to resolve this conflict/issue? 

Refusal and negotiation were used to solve the issue. The characters refused them when the friend wanted them to join and they negotiated by trying to come up with a better way to earn money instead of doing what they were doing.

      3. How would using these skills make the person in the role play more resilient?

By using these skills, they’re learning to not let bad decisions influence them and they’re also helping the others instead of letting them go to the wrong path.

Core Competencies:
Communication

Communication was needed to complete this assignment, and my group and I had done well on that. We were able to connect with each other, and figure out what to do using communication. For example, we used communication to plan who was to play this role, or who’ll do the script writing, etc. Because of this, we were able to get decent results which I hope is evident in the video.
