A dystopian society is a futuristic society in which the society is controlled or manipulated into living a perfect life in a bureaucratic way. Characteristics of a dystopian society include: the use of propaganda to control citizens, less freedom, someone or something is worshiped, citizens always under surveillance, have fear of outside world, and are in a dehumanized state, natural world is gone, and finally, the society is a copy-cat of a perfect utopian world. Some examples of dystopian societies in pop culture are Avengers: Endgame, Wall-E, The Walking Dead, Assassin’s Creed, and more. The video “Being Pretty” by Dead Sound is about having a perfect life, and people who are different and are not “fit” to the society are called “ugly” and are killed. This fits a dystopian society, because you are killed when you are different. You are meant to follow and worship your society’s figurehead.
