Burning Fires

24 million acres gone in the blink of an eye

With the fierce, frightful, ferocious of the fire

And the smog creeping through the sky

The cracking of wood, sounding like the devil’s favourite choir

 

With the change in climate, the world is in trouble

It’s not just us, many animals had met a worst fate

Homes of both human and animals turned to rubble

Homeless hurting the hopeless, filling with hate

 

But with that hate comes hope and heroes

Firefighters risking their lives every day to save their country

Getting stuck in instead of watching like Nero

Fighting to save even just one tree

 

Many people around the world don’t want to relive

But sit in sadness isn’t going to do a thing

If you want to really help, you must give

So that maybe the pain of these will be nothing more than a bee sting

Part 2

My favourite poem that we read in class was Ghost of a Chance by Adrienne Rich. This poem is an open verse poem and is about a man not really having a purpose in his life. When one is trying to break away from the norms of their peers, it is hard to leave for good and not be consumed by it again. When the fish is flopping to death on the dock, it is a symbol for the man trying to break away from the societal norm or adversity but dying or struggling because it is not fitting in. When the waves eventually come in to consume the fish back into the ocean is a metaphor for society taking over or taking the fish back into the day to day life that most everyone has. When the man is thinking on the dock he sees, “A fish half dead from flopping and almost crawling” (Rich). This figurative language is having the fish represent the man’s wishes and attempts to break free from the societal norm but just when the fish was about to dying on the dock until, “a wave pulls it back blind into the triumphant sea” (Rich). This metaphor ends with the fish being dragged backed into the triumphant sea, which is another metaphor for the societal norms and ways of life. The fish is a metaphor for the man. How he tried and failed to break out of the monotony of his life but found the pressure from society to much, thus him falling back into the same old, same old. The connection I made with Oryx and Crake and how the man and Jimmy are one in the same. Jimmy much like the man is different or wants to become different then everyone else. But society kept pulling and crashing eventually bring both of them back down with them. This poem more then all really show the tangible versus intangible parts of life and why we need to understand them both.

Climate and us

this is an image of a man walking through the town of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on January 19, 2019. This pollution in the photo is caused by the people trying to heat their homes in the city apartment buildings. One possible solution for this would be to reduce the use of these heating methods and another solution would find an environmental friendlier method to heat these homes and reduce pollution.

From what we saw in the four screenshots. We think the weather will be colder than today because of a cold front coming in from the west and we’ll get some more rain with that.

In colder countries like the Uk, Finland and Iceland the temperature is rising, but the warmer place like Saudi Arabia and the Philippines are the same and the rain or precipitation is mostly the same except for Saudi Arabia with has gone up. I think it is true that colder countries and more affect global warming from this data.

Day 4

Because of the warm front that passed us and the low-pressure winds that are coming in from the west, from the screenshots. We believe that it will around the same temperature as today but with a bit more rain.

Skates, cutting into the ice with a razor-sharp sound

Many people will try to find the best around

Passes, pucks, players, perform

Edges like knives on steels they do swarm

In front of the net, the mesh shudders and quakes

With every slap of the puck that I take

 

Hockey may have first been play in Scotland, but it is Canada’s game through and through

And in Canada is where the sport grew

The 50’s, the rocket became the first to score 500 in an entire career

When he skated down the ice, he filled the goalie with fear

In the 60’s we had Gordie Howe taking over the league swiftly

But Bobby Hull was the first to score fifty

The 70’s gave us the greatest war on ice

After Canada beat the Soviet Union, the taste of victory was so, so nice

The 80’s Lemieux, Roy, Gretzky, 10 rings combine

They more cups than the Oilers and the Rangers, who both won nine

The 90’s brought us new teams far and wide

But the 1994 lockout lost the NHL a lot pride

The 00’s introduced the shootout but scoring rapidly declined

And Jagr received one of the biggest contracts ever signed

 

The sound of the roaring crowd

With the screaming, crying and cheering so loud

The crowd is the heart of their teams

Every hit, fight and goal they scream

 

 

 

Here, arenas come in many different shapes and sizes

In them, teams have won many different prizes

 

The round, rubber, removal of the puck from my stick

To score on a breakaway you have to be quick

My gloves, like the tools to my brain

If you don’t use them correctly, there is not much to gain

 

Now that Don Cherry is gone, a new controversy arose

All because of the poor words he chose

With this a new lesson is taught

I will miss him, for all the great memories he brought

 

The dream of scoring the game winning goal

Hockey is Canada’s heart and soul

Some say the posts are the goalies best friends

And when the save can’t be made, upon it he depends

Hockey

Every outcome is a mystery

Every team competing to win it all

Every player writing their names in history

All but one will fall

Oceanwise Crab

The crab you should get is the Southern Tanner, Snow Crab in the Bering Sea near Alaska and the snow crab and king crab in Newfoundland and Labrador and Norway respectfully and the methods of catching these crabs are either pot of traps. Some crabs you shouldn’t eat are the Atlantic rock crab in the St. Lawrence River and the US Atlantic, the stone crab in the US Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico, the Blue Swimmer Crab in the Philippines and many more. The method is the same to catch these crabs but you can catch the Blue Swimmer through Bottom Gillet.
