Science 9 Self Reflection

I expected Science 9 to be a lot more difficult than last year because I didn’t do amazing, but after all this, it really wasn’t that bad. This course has taught me quite a bit more about some of the things I had wondered about before. It’s strange how my current Science grade is much better than any of the other grades I’ve got in the previous quarters. I think that this is quite an accomplishment since I’ve never really been that great at science, so I’m proud of myself for that. I’m pretty surprised at how much I know about the Periodic Table now. I never thought that I would have any clue what was going on in the Periodic Table, but now that I figured it out, it turns out that it really isn’t that complicated.

For the future of my Science classes, I hope to have my grades be just as good as it is right now if not better. Since next year will probably not have the quarter system, I should stop procrastinating all the time and actually do my homework instead of leaving it for the last minute before doing it. Even now, I’m still forgetting to do some of my assignments and end up having to rush them and get them in overdue.

I feel that this quarter of my grade 9 school year has been a decently successful one. Although I do not have any electives in this quarter, I think this is one of my more successful ones. Soon enough, I’m going to have to choose which topic of science I have to study so I think I’m going to need to start thinking about that next year. I hope to finish this year strong and to do well next year.

ADL Elemental Infofluency – Plutonium

What questions did you need to research in order to create your sway?
The questions I used to research information for my sway was:
How was Plutonium discovered?
What is Plutonium used for?
Who discovered Plutonium?
What is the melting point/boiling point of Plutonium?
What is the Periodic Table information of Plutonium?

What new or familiar digital tools did you try to use as you worked through this project?
I used Google for the most part but I did try to use CC search for some images and Gale Power search for some additional information. I did notice that sway had a CC image search feature so I decided to use that as my image source. I had to go search up the images’ source for myself because Sway did not provide me with the source of the image.

What was the process you used to investigate the topic?
I started off by collecting information and writing down notes in a Word document. When I felt like I had enough information gathered about Plutonium, I started up Sway and started on the actual project part. It was my first time using Sway so I had to figure out some things before I started. Soon enough, my project was finished up.

How did you verify and cite the information you found?
The way I verified that my information was true is that I go on multiple different sites to on the same topic to check if the information that I been reading was true.

How did the process of completing this challenge go? What could you have done better?
I think that the process of completing this project went pretty well for my first time using Sway. I don’t think it looks the best but I think it is pretty solid for a first time project. There was plenty of information on Plutonium so researching it wasn’t too difficult. I think I could’ve used more of the sources that the instructor provided because that may have gotten me some more trustworthy information and plenty more facts about the element. The current format of my Sway looked like it could use some adjustment so I think I should’ve made it look nicer and more visually appealing.
