For my community connections project, I chose to interview a voice actress, Corina Boettger. She is a voice actress who has voice acted in my favourite game <<Genshin Impact>>, as the lovely travel companion, “Paimon”. Also in the popular Anime series <<One punch man>>, as my favourite character in the series “Tatsumaki” also known as “Terrible tornado”
Corina Boettger isn’t the most known voice actress out there, with 12.8k followers on instagram and 525.6K on Tiktok, but because of the huge amount of time I’ve spent playing “Genshin Impact”, I felt the obligation to interview the most important voice actress in the game.
So here are the answers
- Can you explain your roles and responsibilities with your current position?
I’m a voice actor and I mainly read and record scripts for Anime series, films or games. Anime voice actors, we can increase the audience’s understanding of their character’s emotes
2. What obstacles have you faced to get you where you are today?
Well, I’m both physically and mentally disabled. So mostly that. Figuring out what accommodations I needed and trying not to end up in the hospital
3. Do these conditions affect your voice in anyway?
Rarely but yes. With the autism sometimes I can go non-verbal if I am overstimulated. So I have tricks and accommodations to help with that. And I have an auto immune disorder and if that goes haywire my vocal chords can inflame as a result.
4. What advice would you pass on to someone interested in voice acting?
Take acting classes from a teacher who is CURRENTLY in the industry and has been for at least 5-10 years
5. How long would you recommend someone who wants to do voice acting take these classes for, or how long did you take them for?
Oh, you never stop taking classes. My teachers even still take classes. I still take classes, and I teach classes. Acting is constantly evolving in style so you are constantly learning
6. Do you think there is an age when you should start taking classes? I’m 14 right now do you think it’s too early or late?
Any age! I started when I was 5 years old and my first paid job I was 8!
7. Why are you passionate about your Voice acting?
Uhhh I just love it! My favourite part is Getting to explore my emotions and using that to entertain people
8. Do you think Voice acting is something that requires a lot of natural talent? Or is it something anyone can achieve?
Anyone can achieve it with hard work. My own mother said that I wasn’t naturally talented at it but that I worked hard.
Overall I really enjoyed this opportunity to talk with a real voice actress, I’ve always wanted to be a voice actor and it really gave me a better idea on how I should pursue voice acting in the future, and put away a lot of my doubts.
I think my first step forwards is to start taking classes, I’ve already found a teacher and is starting classes in early march, I hope that maybe one day i’ll get to work on an TV show, game, or anime with Corina.
