Week 9 in Math 10

This week, i learned how to use an X chart to find the rule of how to get Y.

You do this by first maing a T-chart with the x-side being numbers in order like 1,2,3,4… or -2,-1, 0, 1, 2. And then you make the y-side the numbers that are gievn to you.

Here’s a T-chart that we can look at and use to demonstrate what i’m saying.

x|y

1|5

2|11

3|17

So on the y side, it goes up by 6 everytime, so our first number in our rule is 6. Then you take a number from the x side and do 6x then you figure out how many you need to add or subtract to get the y. So 6x (six times 1) -1 = 5, and 6x (six times 2) -1 equals 11. And 6x (six times 3) -1 equals 17.

So the rule for this one, is 6x-1=y
