It is 2018 and teens can get their hands on illegal drugs with sending few text messages. There is a number of stresses and insecurities that may cause a young adult to turn and rely on drugs and alcohol for relief. As a teen living in 2018, I myself know that many kids feel insecure when going out in public. Some feel it is necessary to please society with their appearance and actions. Now a days, self-esteem is something teens either lack or have too much of. Weather it is looking or acting a certain way, many teens get pressured to try a substance just to fit in with a friend group or please a partner. Individuals tend to categorize kids by how they appear, weather they party, or by their academic grades. Students often are afraid to be categorized uncordially and so they make decisions so they could be placed where they seek to be. On TV shows and social media, we are often showed, that you must dress and do things certain way to become a pretty or popular student. The internet is full of negative influences and inappropriate videos of under aged kids vaping, smoking or abusing drugs. Teens may find the comfort of being high or getting drunk as a way to escape reality. Drugs may help a child feel free of problems and promotes procrastination. Some teens who come from a dangerous or abusive home life can tend to act like important figures who they have grown up with. Young adults may find that their own parents aren’t giving enough guidance and support that one need. Parents who do not get involved in their children’s lives may not even know what their child has possibly been consuming. The hazards of alcohol consumptions are very serious. Alcohol enhances your behavior and can make you lose control of your actions. Your brain does not finish development until between ages of 20-30, consuming substances such and nicotine an alcohol destroy many brain cells with every intake. Everyone, including adults, should always be cautious while consuming anything.  We should feel comfortable in our own skin and should learn to stand our ground. Don’t be afraid to say “No.”
