Welcome to My Electric House Project! I am so excited to share all about my house and My physics unit knowledge. Jade, Stephanie and I created a house with four rooms (Bathroom, Bedroom, Kitchen, and Living Room). Without Furth or due – here is my Project!

The Process/House Construction:

Project Questions:

Number 1:

  • In a series circuit, there is one pathway for the flow of electrons. If that flow is disturbed or tampered with the electrons do not continue throughout the rest of the circuit and into the battery.  Example. Old(er) Christmas lights, If one bulb is burnt out the following light will not/can’t be lit. One light is broken or lose the rest unable to operate. The loads are dependent on each other!

Number 2:

  • In a parallel circuit, Loads are linked through other wires. That means that within the circuit there is a different pathway for the electrons to flow. If one light is unscrewed it doesn’t change the circuit in any way because the electrons have different paths Example. Buildings (school); In a school, there are many classrooms and workspaces all operated by their own switches. If one light in a class burns out, the others will still stay lit. Other classrooms can operate whether the light is on, off, or dimmed. One classrooms actions do not affect the rest of the school building.

Number 3:

When a parallel circuit is being complete each load receives the full power of the battery/power source. A nine-volt battery is being used by loads receiving the same 9 volts. But when a series circuit is being used the load’s energies is being divided. This is because in a  parallel circuit there are many different pathways for the electrons to travel and return to the battery, but in a series, there is only one.

  • For complex circuits: The two loads (lights) connected in parallel will both be half as bright, as the series light bulb connected to them. This is because the flow of the electrons leads to the series bulb.

Number 4:

When a light goes out, the electrons travelling through that bulb gets divided into the remaining bulbs. The two remaining light bulbs link to make series and become equally bright. The circuit will still light up but would act like as if it were a series circuit. This is because the flow of electrons turns into a series circuit.

  1. Fantastic blog post summarizing your Electric House Project, Emily! I love how you showed the progression of your house and embedded images to help communicate your answers to the Project Questions! I also enjoyed reading your reflection about the development of your thinking core competency. Well done!
