Part One: Goal Setting (PRIOR TO/START OF WORK PLACEMENT)
I am great in a work environment since I have had a job before and understand how to be professional. I am able to learn on the fly to get any task done that is thrown at me. I am great at cleaning and organizing a space but also able to keep it that way. I’m a pretty talkative person and will be able to talk to all the clients in a warm and welcome way getting them comfortable and feeling at home at the clinic. I also have a bright and happy energy about me that travels to any environment I am in making the space feel safe and joyful. I am deeply passionate in skincare and have been since I was 12 years old. I would watch YouTube videos of different skincare products and what they did for your skin and the different ingredients that have skin benefits. It brings me joy to see all the amazing benefits that it has for people and their skin. I also love all the treatments that you can get done to help improve your skincare issues and would love to learn more about what they do and how they work. I have gotten one facial in my life and I swear it was the best experience in my life. After wards I felt so calm and relaxed and my skin felt so glowy and smooth. I want everyone to get that experience and would love to be in an environment that helps people feel beautiful and happy.
I hope to help my employees have less on their plate. This means helping with small and big tasks around the office so that they have less stress. I will do this by using my communication skills and always ask if they need help and remind them I am willing to do anything they need.
I hope to make sure clients feel welcome and supported while in the clinic. I’ll do this by always having a warm nice smile on my face and open body language. If anyone feels in need to talk to me, I’m there. I will also try to make small talk with the customers and try and bring their mood up because I know some people get a little scared before their appointments.
I hope I learn how to work in a busy environment and manage the craziness. I will do this by always being on my toes and ready for any job that comes my way. I will do it in an efficient manner so that things get done and I can move onto the next task. Even if I’m already doing a task but I get asked to do another one by my employer, I will do that first and then be able to get back to my old task after I finish. Because its important to prioritize tasks when busy and I want to learn how to do that. I will also make a to do list on my phone so that when I have multiple things to do I don’t get to stressed out and forget what I have to do.
Part Two: Growth (END OF WORK PLACEMENT)
For my first goal, I definitely can say that I accomplished it. I was always asking around if anyone needed help especially when it was busy and I could see people getting a little hectic. When it wasn’t so busy, I was asking if anyone needed help so that they had time to relax too. I also figured out what I could do to help people without even asking if they needed help like always make sure there’s no laundry in the machines or that it’s on a cycle so that I could get that task out of their way. Or another thing if I saw clients go out of rooms, I would then go in there and clean it up for the next client so that the people I was working with didn’t have to do that as well. Or like when it was the end of the day, I would start getting the garbage ready without having to be told because I know sometimes it’s really nice when people do things without being told to do them. Doing this, just put less on their plate and made them feel relieved when these tasks were being done without them, even knowing. I also organized a lot of the clinic so that it was easier to know where things go and put them back properly and have a nice clean space that just made you relax because it was organized and not stressed because you couldn’t find anything.
I was also able to accomplish my second goal in making sure clients felt welcome, comfortable, and supported in the clinic. An example of this, was when we had someone come in when I was at reception. They werelooking for one of the staff members, but sadly they weren’t in so I was able to support this client with what they needed. And pass on any information. I made sure to be as welcoming as possible and talk to them for a while we’re they even said that I was doing a great job at reception and brought a kind and positive energy to the office. Another example of this is that I always make small talk with the clients as I am taking their photos since sometimes it can be weird for them to get photos of themselves done by someone else especially when I have to tell them to raise their eyebrows all the way up or scrunch their face. By making small talk I am distracting them from maybe feeling awkward and now pay attention more to the conversation and have a more comfortable time.
I would also say that I was able to work in a busy environment where multiple things happen all at once. There were definitely some days in the clinic that I felt a little overwhelmed at the start but by the end I was able to work well in that busy environment. An example of me working well in a busy environment was when we have a lot of people in I try to get their photos done and take them to the photo wall to make the front a little let busy. Then after photos I take them into a room to again clear out the front and make the front a little less chaotic. I also make a list of the things I need to get done so that I get everything done and can stick to a schedule. This helps my brain with the stress of having a lot to do since I know I won’t forget to do things and I can check things off and see my progress.
