In our science 9 honors call we have decided to create our electric house project. For my groups electric house project we decided to use a clock tower as our design.
Define
Because we chose to use a clock tower design we had to brain storm some problems that could happen in a real clock tower. Some problems we thought about were the structural stability, visible wires, working electricity, and the gear ratios on the working clock. We decided that the biggest problem that we could have faced would be a working clock.
Dream
A solution that we came up with is a microbit that shows the hour like a digital clock. We used our microbit and taped it to the top of our clock tower.
Deliver
we made our house with lights and made it open to show off the insides. The microbit was coded to change every minute to signify a real clock. When the clock reaches 12 we made it so it resets back to one to make sure it can go forever.
Debrief
The process of making this house was difficult with many setbacks. When we were planning we had already decided on a clock tower but we had to figure out how to implement our issue. We had decided to focus on the clock as our issue. Our first idea was to make a real clock with hands that moved. When we realized we would need more time then we had we had to scrap the idea and go for something easier. We decided to make a makeshift digital clock on our clock tower with a microbit. This project was fun and stressful with the time limits given.
