Double Exposure Poem Assignment

The author is a 15-year-old girl who enjoys travelling and going to art museums. She has a passion for little details and that is reflected in this poem describing her experience at the Orangerie in Paris, looking at Monet’s Water Lilies.

The main message of the poem is contemplation and being transported into happy memories and then being taken out of the memory by the intrusion of something like the “shhh” sound. She uses the soft sounds to create a sense of calm contemplation like the w’s in “the wind whispering through the weeping willow trees.” The two images are fused to show what is happening in the author’s mind.
