Indigenous Exploration – clean water crisis

As a first world country we should all have access to clean drinking water right? It seems like a no-brainer but surprisingly its not, for the longest time hundreds of people in indigenous community’s have to boil their water before it is safe to drink it. This needs to be stopped now.

Here is mine and Colton’s podcast on Podcast on the major problem of dirty drinking water on Indigenous reserves in Canada. please enjoy

this is my reflection on my project

This project was a lot of fun, and I would do it again.

Me and my partner worked very hard making this, I did the editing for the project and he found the music and helped with the script. At first we started with the topic housing prices but we struggled with finding facts and information on the topic, so after discussion we decided to switch our topic to drinking water which yielded many more results.

Most of the project was very straight forward and easy to follow. The thing I struggled with the most out of this project was finding facts to put into the script. I checked a lot of news in gale, but I only used about half of what I found.

The main source of media I used was gale. But I used YouTube for the talk about the girl who talked to the prim minister.  We had to cut somethings from the project due to it not fitting unfortunately. But most of the work we found we used.

The major obstacles we found when recording was that the littlest mistake can beak everything and cause us to rerecord major sections and that each take of sound has to be as perfect as posible.

I have done audacity in the past so I had a bit of knowledge of its uses and tools. But I still struggled with all the tools that audacity gives you. Moving sound around and moving your start line can get very confusing.

I value the knowledge that I learned researching this project. I learned how bad the indigenous community’s still have it. We have not fully recovered from the horrible things we have done in the past but this is a good spot to start. If we can stop the spread of filthy water in indigenous reserves and communities. People all over the place are speaking up and pushing for change, even kids are tired of this. Learning about this I can’t help but be shocked at how these people live, I have always had access to clean water, but these people must boil their water to clean it. We live in a first world country. This is not Canada.
