Every second, every minute, man I swear that she can get it
Say if you put your hands up high, hands up high, hands up high
Tell ’em dim the lights down right now, put me in the mood
I’m talking ’bout dark room, perfume
Go, go!
I recognize your fragrance (hol’ up!)
You ain’t never gotta say (woo!)
And I know your taste is
A little bit (mmm) high maintenance (ooh)
Everybody else basic
You live life on an everyday basis
With poetic justice, poetic justice
If I told you that a flower bloomed in a dark room, would you trust it?
I mean I write poems in these songs dedicated to you
When you’re in the mood for empathy, theres blood in my pen
Better yet where your friends and them?
I really wanna know you all
I really wanna show you off
, pour up plenty of champagne
Cold nights when you curse this name
You called up your girlfriends and
Y’all curled in that little bitty Range I heard that
She wanna go and party, she wanna go and party
don’t approach her with that Atari
that ain’t good game, homie, sorry
They say conversation, rule a nation, I can tell
But I could never right my wrongs
’less I write it down for real, P.S
You can get it, you can get it
You can get it, you can get it
And I know just, know just, know just, know just, know just what you want
Poetic justice, put it in a song
You can get it, you can get it
You can get it, you can get it
And I know just, know just, know just, know just, know just what you want
Poetic justice, put it in a song
I really hope you play this
’Cause ol’ girl you test my patience
With all these seductive photographs and all these one off vacations
You’ve been taken
Clearly a lot for me to take in
It don’t make sense
I was trying to put you on game, put you on a plane
Take you and your mama to the motherland
I could do it, maybe one day
When you figure out you’re gonna need someone
When you figure out it’s all right here in the city
And you don’t run from where we come from
That sound like poetic justice, poetic justice
You were so new to this life but you got adjusted
I mean I write poems in these songs, (ooh!)
Good God, what you doing that walk for?
When I see that thing move, I just wish we would fight less
And we would talk more
And they say communication save relations, I can tell
But I can never right my wrongs unless I write them down for real
P.S
You can get it, you can get it
You can get it, you can get it
And I know just, know just, know just, know just, know just what you want
Poetic justice, put it in a song
Every time I write these words they become a taboo
Making sure my punctuation curve, every letter is true
Living my life in the margin and that metaphor was proof
I’m talking poetic justice, poetic justice
If I told you that a flower bloomed in a dark room, would you trust it?
I mean you need to hear this
Love is not just a verb, it’s you looking in the mirror
Love is not just a verb, it’s you looking for a maybe
Call me crazy, We can both be insane
A fatal attraction is common
And what we have common is pain
I mean you need to hear this
Love is not just a verb and I can see power steering
I want that interference
It’s coherent, I can hear it, mmhmm
That’s your heartbeat
It either caught me or it called me, mmhmm
Breathe slow and you’ll find gold mines in these lines
Sincerely, yours truly
And right before you go blind
P.S
You can get it, you can get it
You can get it, you can get it
And I know just, know just, know just, know just, know just what you want
Poetic justice, put it in a song
Kendrick Lamar featuring Drake – Poetic Justice
Album- Good Life, M.A.A.D City
Lyrics from – songmeaning.com
Four square poetry analysis
Imagery
The poet choices these words because it’s they put off a Certain feeling and that’s what the poet wants you to feel, Kendrick is feeling lost and broken and the words and the language he uses In these song is he wants you to feel the way he feels.
The effect that the poet has left me with is with a overall perspective that he missing someone important in his life, very dear to him when you lose some one important to you it makes you feel sad and weary
Tone and attitude
“ love is just not a verb it’s you looking in the mirror “
Kendrick is trying to express that love isn’t just a word it’s more than that and it can be shown
There’s lots of word that he uses to create a mood
Poetic justice Dark Flowers trust love empathy
Those word are sang for a reason to give you the feeling you just lost someone and your trying to get them back in your life
This is a sad poem
The writer uses tone so you understand a little of what he’s going though in his every day life
Style
The style of this Poem is free verse
There are 12 stanzas in these poem there are couplets, quadtrains, and iambic pentameters
There is rhyme scheme In this poem
There are some comas where there shouldn’t be and some capitalized letters that shouldn’t be capitalized.
I think Kendrick uses the comas and capitalization to give a different meaning to the word and sentences then normal
Interpretation
The message of the song is that love is true it can be shown though actions, emotions and attraction
The song does not state who it was wrote for but Kendrick knows how it’s about and that’s why he uses the language and word choice
I think the song was written for somebody in Kendrick life
It might have been about a event that happened maybe a heart break or something that hurt Kendrick
The narrator is Kendrick and drake when he sings his verse in this song. I’m thinking they are speaking to somebody who hurt Kendrick and that made him think that love isn’t real but I think he wrote this song to show the person that he believes in love again and he’s changed.
I can not relate to this poem I haven’t been though the stress and the events that Kendrick has been though. He probably changed since that happened the message I pull from this song is, that love is real and it can brake somebody or it can make them a stronger person. Love is a lot more than just a word it’s a felling.
