For this podcast project, I decided to tell Mariella Lennie’s story. I chose to research missing and murdered indigenous women to spread the message and somehow help. Mariella was 17 years old when she moved to Yellowknife. She came one month before the start of high school and stayed with relatives. Lennie was last seen alive on Oct. 6, 1991. Seven months later, her body was found floating on Great Slave Lake. Since then, this case has never been solved. To complete this project and get a great sound, I used a Blue Snowball microphone. I edited audio on my MacBook using Audacity. In Ukraine, we don’t learn about indigenous people, so this project gave me a lot of new knowledge. This project helped me educate myself and find out about crimes against indigenous people.
