Looking at this picture, we can see two sides. Left side with the group of birds and the right side with only one little bird. The left side is in black and white colours, and everyone looks the same. The other side shows colours, something unusual and not like others. The picture is telling a real-life story and more of a history. For many years people in groups discriminated against immigrants from different countries. Because people coming from all around the world are different from the “norm”, they get disrespected. The wall at the back of the drawing is important too. Look how smooth it is behind the discriminator and how sharp behind the immigrant. The wall represents the difficulties of living in this kind of society. We feel how lost the little bird is, how hard its life is. With this drawing, Banksy is trying to show the world how ridiculous this situation is and open people’s eyes to the problem.
