This image really shows the contrast between how the first nations enjoyed themselves when they were immersed in their culture and after they were forced into residential schools. It really brings to light how so many lives were destroyed being put through that abuse and being mistreated. The image really reminds you of all the stories of children being taken from their families and put into residential schools.

Reflection:

My experiences working on this were mostly frustrating. For example after all of the research that me and my partner had done we had found out that we hadn’t gathered enough evidence for the video meaning that it was to short. So then we had to do more research in order to make it longer but then we met the requirements and it sounded good so in the end it worked out.

The path that our group took for researching was to individually research different aspects of our topics and then narrowing them down and answering the questions. We found most of our information on Gale in Context: Canada.

Obstacles we faced while recording were, as stated previously, the first recording we did wasn’t long enough. We realized that 6 minutes is actually a long time.

Some ways that I communicated my learning. One of them being the audio recording I feel it is a great way to share my findings with others another would be a written response. I actually find a written response to be better though, I feel as though it conveys more meaning and is easier to understand.

Community Connection alternate

This is the local volunteer opportunity I have chosen https://vancouver.ca/streets-transportation/snow-angel.aspx

This is the local employment opportunity I have chosen https://ca.indeed.com/jobs?q=apprentice+mechanic&l=port+coquitlam%2C+bc&vjk=82a33dcd2e07a155&advn=9413692541756165

The volunteer opportunity I have chosen is called “Snow Angel”. During harsh weather, when there is lots of snow or ice on the ground and it’s hard for people with limited transport options or are not capable to shovel or plow snow it would be my job as the volunteer to help clear away as much of this as I can to help them get to work or school and have a clear pathway to walk safely. When it snows, the organization that runs this volunteer service pairs people that have limited mobility with neighbors willing to lend a hand and remove snow and ice from people’s driveways and walkways. This could benefit my future in a number of ways, one of them being I could put this on my resume to apply for jobs. Another being, it will help with school, given that I need at least fifty hours volunteer work to graduate. Last but not lease, I am passionate about getting involved in this because it is to help my neighbors and the community I live in, and that is a great thing. To help someone in need of assistance is always a good thing to do. I also like to be outside especially when its cold out it gives me a refreshed feeling that I love.  It would be a great way to have fun while helping others, I enjoy being outside, especially in cold weather and I know how much it means when people help me so I would like to pass that on to someone else who may need a helping hand.

The employment opportunity that I have chosen is Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice. This could benefit my future because I’m thinking about becoming a Heavy Duty Mechanic as my career. This could help in many ways because I can put it on my resume when applying and I also need to complete a three year apprenticeship to obtain my license to become a Heavy Duty Mechanic. I would learn a great deal about the job and maybe even a potential employer one day.  For this job it is required that I have some knowledge as to how large machinery engines work and how to problem solve with them as well as be physically capable to fix the engines.  Its not just about the engines either, there are other parts of the machine that can have problems and I need to be able to identify and fix those as well. In addition I would need basic reading and writing as well as a good handle on math. The current skills I have might not be enough but I still have some knowledge as to how engines work and how to fix them, I am good at math and English literacy and I like to learn about how machines work. Some steps I could take to be more suitable for this position are to take some courses next year like automotive life skills 11 and engineering 11 to help improve my problem solving ability as well as my ability to fix and identify problems with an engine and other parts of the machine too.

Core Competencies

Critical Thinking

I feel as though I properly demonstrate Critical Thinking in the climate in Canada assignment because I needed to identify certain things about the biome such as the Atmosphere, Geosphere, Hydrosphere and Biosphere. It was also reacquired that I draw and identify biotic and abiotic things in the biome such as rocks, trees, bushes, animals, ground. That is how I think I demonstrated Critical Thinking.

Modeling Mitosis

In this image the cell has entered Prophase which is the earliest stage of mitosis. The first layer of string represents the cell membrane and the smaller circle is the nucleus. The clump of string inside is represents DNA.

In this image the DNA in the middle has formed into chromosomes. The centrioles are moving to opposite sides of the cell and preparing to grab hold of the chromosomes and center them in a line.

In this image the nucleus has disintegrated and released the chromosomes and they have been grabbed by the centriole and are being aligned.

In this image the centrioles have aligned the chromosomes

  1. Benefits: Complete – Shows both mitosis and cytokinesis for a fuller understanding. Step-by-step: clearly displays the order of each stage. Teaching tool – helpful for explaining cell biology concepts.
  2. Limitations: – complexity – may become intricate making it challenging to convey all details.
  3. -static: Doesn’t capture the real time dynamics of cell division.
  4. – size constraints: practical limitations on detail and accuracy at a smaller scale.
