Modeling Mitosis

In this image the cell has entered Prophase which is the earliest stage of mitosis. The first layer of string represents the cell membrane and the smaller circle is the nucleus. The clump of string inside is represents DNA.

In this image the DNA in the middle has formed into chromosomes. The centrioles are moving to opposite sides of the cell and preparing to grab hold of the chromosomes and center them in a line.

In this image the nucleus has disintegrated and released the chromosomes and they have been grabbed by the centriole and are being aligned.

In this image the centrioles have aligned the chromosomes

  1. Benefits: Complete – Shows both mitosis and cytokinesis for a fuller understanding. Step-by-step: clearly displays the order of each stage. Teaching tool – helpful for explaining cell biology concepts.
  2. Limitations: – complexity – may become intricate making it challenging to convey all details.
  3. -static: Doesn’t capture the real time dynamics of cell division.
  4. – size constraints: practical limitations on detail and accuracy at a smaller scale.
