Week 11 – Math 10 – relations and functions

this week in math we learnt about relations and functions. and I learnt that a function is when it only has 1 partner and a relation is when it has multiple partners. for example, in a relationship your significant other is your only partner (function). But in a friendship you can have multiple friends/partners (relation).

example:

function:

1      4

     3

6      5

relation:

7     5

7    1

7    8

Week 6 – Math 10 – polynomials

this week in math we started our polynomials unit. one main thing i learnt was distributive property, to do this you need to multiply the number outside of the brackets with the numbers inside of the brackets. and another thing i remember is that the shapes that are shaded in represent positive and the ones that aren’t shaded in represent negative.

2x (2x-1)

  • 2×2=4×2
  • 2×1=2x

4×2-2x

Week 5 – Math 10 -trigonometry

this week in math one thing i learnt was how to use pythagorean theorem to calculate the length of a side in a right triangle. to do this you take the numbers on the two sides of the triangle and square them and with the numbers you get after squaring them you add together. once you add those together you square root the answer you got from adding together and then thats your answer.

week 2-math 10 prime factorization

something i learnt this week in math was how to find the GCF, (greatest common factor) and its basically where you have two different numbers and with both of them you list the prime factors of each number. Then if you find multiple numbers they have in common you multiply them to get the GCF but if you just find one common factor then that number is your common factor.

example:

35                   42

7  5                 2 21

7                                gcf=7
