1. How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities?
I think my digital footprint will affect my future opportunities, if I were to post pictures of me underage drinking on Instagram and then a year later I apply for my dream job. Before they hire me they would definitely do some research on me and I’m sure they would easily find the picture of me underage drinking which would make me have a really low chance of getting hired. another reason is if I were to post explicit photos and delete them quickly after there’s is still a big chance that they’re somewhere on the internet. therefor anything you post on the internet will always be there.
2. Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe.
- limit posting on social media
- delete any old accounts that I don’t use anymore
- limit entering a lot of personal data on apps and websites
- always update software
3. What information did you learn that you would pass on to other students? How would you go about telling them?
I learned to limit posting photos since it will always be on the internet forever and can affect any opportunities in the future. and I would tell other students to be careful with sharing personal data and photos on the internet.
