Digital footprint
Intro
When you make an account on Social media you have to be careful about your digital footprint. A digital footprint is something that can harm a career, opportunities, or ruin your reputation. when you post something online it stays there forever.
How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities?Give at least two examples.
How can a digital footprint effect you? When posting something online if it’s a meme, a tweet, a video, a message etc It never goes away. As soon as you hit post it’s saved in the internet’s never-ending internet archive. So with that knowledge saying something racist/offensive/homophobic/etc. can lead to two actions. Online you can get « canceled » and in real life some opportunities can be at harm.
Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe
If you don’t recall having anything harming on your digital footprint and you are clean then here are some ways you can keep your digital footprint clean.
- Research your name on every search engine that you know exzmple (Google, Yahoo, Bing, DuckDuckgo etc.)
If You didn’t know If you serach up your name on Google, then you have a good chance of finding one of your accounts. If you do find one try to monitor what and what is not ok to keep online. And if its all bad then sadly you are going to have to delete the account in general.
- Check Your social medias for harmuful information
It is important to check for harmful information so any of it can’t be looked up while in a job interview. Your employer will see that you were racist/offensive/homophobic and declin your request.
- Be carful of what you say in the up comming future
If you checked everywhere to see if you have anything harmful, then just keep in mind to be careful and double-check what and what is not good.
What information did you learn that you would pass on to other students? How would you go about telling them?
I learnt that your digital footprint is something that is really important and can magorly impact your future if not supervised. If i had to explain what a digital foot print is to some students I would show them this blog and talk and explain them about it.
In conclusion It is impotrtant that everyone should know about thier digital footprint
