Hi there and welcome to my blog. In this I will talk about my Midterm Self Assessment and Goal-Setting for Chemistry 11 Co-op.
Strengths and Weaknesses in Course Content:
In this semester, I have built a better understanding of Atomic Theory, especially in Periodic Table trends as I find it very fascinating at how it works and fits in perfectly. My weakness in this unit was to do with any worded questions as I found them confusing and hard to put into words.
In the Bonding unit, I found that my strength was understanding ionic and covalent bonding. Drawing Lewis structures and predicting bonds became easier as I visualized them in my head. My weakness in this unit was polarity, as I often tended to overthink if a molecule was polar or non-polar.
For the Mole, my strength was using unit conversions to find out what the problems needed. My weakness in this unit was when the conversion units were not standard moles, particles or etc. (goats, sheeps)
Goal Section: Content
I think that my main strength in this pillar is that I can see ideas much more clearly once I can use an analogy or visualize them. However, my weakness is that I rush through my practice questions instead of me slowing and checking my methods. To improve on this weakness, my goal is to slow down and go over my reasonings in each question to prevent any silly mistakes.
Plan:
Review notes thoroughly
Track which mistakes are being made again and again
Practice a lot
