A political spectrum is a grid with 2 lines crossing each other in the middle. It is used to place a political view on a spectrum where it is visible how much they follow one belief over another. There are many differences between left- and right-wing policies. The most obvious ones being that left wing supports change and right wing supports the idea of maintaining older beliefs. Authoritarian governments are taking control of the people for their benefit and the public must follow their rules. Libertarian governments take less control over their people and let them do what they want to do. Ingsoc and big brother would be top left.
