In the image “birds on the wire” by Banksy there are 6 birds sitting on a wire, 5 of them are on one side, they all look alike, and they are looking down on the bird on the other side of the wire. The one on the other side is smaller than the rest of them and is green whereas the other birds are black and grey. The black and grey birds are holding signs that say things like “Go back to Africa”. The black birds are not welcoming the other bird to migrate to their current location which is definitely not Africa. The black birds take up more of the image than the other bird and since they are bigger it is showing that the other bird is powerless in his situation. This closely resembles how some view immigrants coming into their countries that they are in. A lot of people do not want other people entering their countries, so I think the artist was trying to make it more seen to people who aren’t aware of this issue. I think it is something important that needs to be mentioned and I think it is a very good thing that artists who take notice of the problem do something about it and make more people aware of the problem so that hopefully in the future the problem can be prevented.
