Description :

In this PowerPoint me and my partner Cole were talking about run on sentences. We talked about what they are first, so I’ll touch upon that right now. A run on sentence is when there are multiple ideas or independent clauses connected without any punctuation or conjunctions. This makes the sentence basically worth two sentences, so you want to separate it. Ways you can separate the run on sentence into multiple ideas are to add a comma and a coordinating conjunction (FANBOYS), a period or a subordinating conjunction. To make it a bit easier we put it into the example of running a relay. When you’re running a relay there are multiple runners (the ideas), and there is the baton being passed between runners. There is a brief moment where it is just the baton moving and the runners are both next to each other. Think of the baton as the conjunction/punctuation. Like this, the baton has to be in the middle of 2 runners (ideas). Now think of a relay but there is no baton to pass, it really doesn’t work. It is needed so that the race can be completed, and the sentence works well. After hopefully making it easier to understand we wrote our test questions. In a majority of the test questions, we used “true or false” question type because it is a lot easier and makes more sentence going off the structure of the question. Some of them would be a lot harder to convey what we are trying to get across by using a multiple-choice method. That is how we completed our PowerPoint project on run on sentences.
