George Orwell wrote the novel 1984 based off his opinions on the different forms of government. He believed that no one person should be in total control or have a country run by the idea of nationalism. He wrote 1984 as a political criticism towards totalitarian governments. Orwell was a democratic socialist and wrote off his experiences in World War II. Since this book is written in the dystopian genre it shows the worst outcome of having a totalitarian government to provoke fear in the reality of this happening. Overall, Orwell being a socialist, expressed his opinions through his books and that is why he created 1984.
