Week 1
test post – September 7, 2022
Today we are starting with edublog tests.
Week 2
Inquiry term-long project – September 9, 2022
I want this to be my inquiry project because I know how this is going to be a challenge for me to make but since this is a term-long project it would really help with the outcome of the assignment. I have seen a project like this before in the past and always wanted to create it myself and now I have a great opportunity to do so. what others have done with sculpting the human face is adding things and objects that are not possible in real life like the image on the far right has a human hugging the face. I plan on using the same idea with a combination of the pictures above.
I think a big problem I might face is the clay drying. this is a hard project and I want the clay to stay mouldable Intel I am finished and when I am, how am I going to fully dry my piece when in the end this is just a really big piece of clay. I might be able to keep my clay in a plastic form by sponging it every time I work with it.
Sgrafitto Tile – September 12, 2022
My tile is going to be fauna theme and include many animals. Since me, Bronwyn, and Samantha are connecting our tiles together to recreate the depths of the sea my animal has to be an aquatic animal so that limited my choices a lot. I did some research on the meanings behind aquatic animals and narrowed it down to what best represented me. I chose to do a shark because they represent strength, determination, endurance, instinct, and speed. This all relates to me being a competitive swimmer, meaning I have the endurance to swim for hours, the speed and determination to beat others , and to ignore the instinct to breathe. And the last animal I am using to represent me is a whale because they represent being wise and creative. I have always been mature since a very young age and I love to create things with my hands.
My goal by the end of the week is to have my tile ready for the kiln.

Week 3
Sgrafitto Tile – September 20, 2022
My clay tile came out of the kiln in one piece with no fractures and I just finished applying the clear glaze on my tile and it is ready to be fired.

Week 4
Inquiry Term-Long Project – September 26, 2022

I am at the researching stage of this project. these past couple days I have been drawing what I want my face to look like and deciding on a theme for the part carved out in the head. I just started watching videos on how to sculpt a women’s face and soon I will be able to start my project when I have enough time.
Coil Pots – September 26, 2022
This assignment was just introduced today and I am planning to finish it by the end of this week or next Monday but today I will just decide on what I want to do for the designing part of this assignment.
Week 5
Coil Pots – October 3, 2022

I finally finished the walls of my coil pot and I am hopefully going to start carving and creating my elephant on it. I could not follow my plan from above because of the criteria for the assignment but I still think it turned out good so far.
Week 6
Coil Pots – October 10, 2022

I finished putting my desired choice of coloured underglaze on my coil pot and now I hope to fire it by the end of the class today and overall finish this project this week. A challenge I faced with this project is the tusks on the elephant would break and I would have to repeatedly glue them back on with underglaze.

Life Below Water – October 17, 2022
The Blue Glaucus is a type of sea slug that lives in the Indian, Pacific, and Atlantic Ocean. Human threats are a common impact on sea creatures including the blue glaucus because of their exotic colour people want them as pets or in aquariums. They are affected by the increase of ocean acidity caused by climate change. Lastly, another threat to the species is pollution because blue glaucous float on the water and the garbage have toxins and can hurt them. We can help decrease the threats to this species by stopping our use of plastic by replacing it with more composable materials. We can also bring awareness to this animals presence to help educate people about why keeping animals because of their looks and colours is wrong.

Week 8
Life Below Water – October 24, 2022

I started sculpting my sea slug last week and hope to finish sculpting and painting it this week. I decided to lay the sea slug on a crushed water bottle to symbolize the danger to this animal.
Week 9
Life Below Water – October 31, 2022

I have finished sculpting last Friday and let it air dry over the weekend so it would be ready to be bisque fired today. Hopefully I will be able to start painting soon.
Week 10
Life Below Water – November 7, 2022

I am almost done painting my blue dragon and will soon paint the colour of the water bottle and I plan to finish painting entirely this week and start the next step of this project.

The Blue Dragon is found floating in the Indian, Pacific, and Atlantic Ocean. A common impact on these species is the increase in ocean acidity, pollution, and human threats.
We can help this species by replacing plastic-based products with composable ones and educate people about the importance of not touching animals for looks.
Week 12
Animal Mask – November 21, 2022
Last week I started designing my mask to look like a hawk, the animal I chose that best represented me and what I want to be. I have been having trouble deciding on a design but I have created two to choose from. I’m also stuck on what material I am going to use for the feathers and overall creating and shaping the mask.
Week 13
Animal Mask – November 28, 2022
I started taping my mask last week and adjusting my measurements as I go. I hope to finish taping and adding the beak by Tuesday so I can start using paper mâché.
Week 14
Animal Mask – December 5, 2022
I started to paper maché my mask last week and let it dry over the weekend. I hope to finish this step in the process of making the mask so I can move on to the next.
Week 15
Animal Mask – December 12, 2022
I am almost done with the paper maché and recently last week added some adjustments to the mask to even out the sides. I plan to finish today the paper maché and paint tomorrow.
Week 16
Final Animal Mask – January 4, 2023
When we were asked to choose an animal we best connected with, I choose a hawk because they best represented me for being known as determined, intelligent, and independent creatures.
I made sure to include key features of the animal like the nose, eyes, and wings. My idea behind the look is to make it seem fierce because that is an attribute I aspire to have.
New Inquiry Term-Long Project – January 4, 2023
I decided to change my inquiry based on the amount of time left of this semester and time I have in between assignments. My new inquiry is make a dripping clock out of clay to display on my shelf at home. I have already created a plan for how I want to use tomorrows class and chose the colour of paint when it comes to that.
New Inquiry Term-Long Project – January 5, 2023

I just finished building the clock and I chose the best way I think to dry the clay.
New Inquiry Term-Long Project – January 6, 2023

I have been trying to get this project to work two times now, and both failed so I think I might go back to my original idea of sculpting a face or creating a body.
Week 17
New Inquiry Project – January 9, 2023
I decided to go with a human sculpture for my new inquiry project. I started last week but decided to try again because my proportions were off.
Week 18
New Inquiry Project – January 19, 2023

I am trying to get this finished but I am running out of time to do my best work. I honesty think I could of done better if I had more time.

I am not finished my inquiry project but hopefully will be done by Monday. For this project I started the idea with doing a full face sculpture but then changed it towards the end because of time so now it can hold books on either sides. What I learned is that time is key to my performance in art and I hopefully will incorporate this into future projects.
