Here is my propaganda poster supporting Kuno’s view. I used Canva and Google Gemini.

Throughout the process of doing this project and making my propaganda poster, I learned and applied several techniques of propaganda to my poster. Firstly, and the most evident is the fear technique. The second technique I used was name calling and the third was Unwarranted Extrapolation.
In my poster the most obvious technique used was fear, the poster is basically telling the people that if the machine did not need them, it would kill them. Nobody wants to die, and in a world where people don’t die naturally, some of them may even be more afraid of dying. The poster is also overall depressing, I intentionally used dark colours and low lighting to communicate feelings. If you were looking for a picture with lots of bright colours you would probably have a hard time feeling scared or worried.
The second technique I used was name calling, calling the machine The Enemy. In Kuno’s mind the machine is ultimately the enemy as it prohibits us to do much of what makes us human. So, I feel if Kuno was making a poster he would try to communicate this to his peers. However, I feel in this scenario with everyone being brainwashed to love the machine this appeal might not work as well.
The last technique I used was unwarranted extrapolation. The claims in the poster are made to try and make people see the truth, but as the reader the claims that Kuno make either have no evidence to support them, or he does not share it. So, the line I used is good but there is little to no evidence to support it.
My main inspiration for the poster was when Kuno descried the worms from the mending apparatus (Pg19), this was evident is earlier iterations of my poster, but I lost it when furthering my prompt in Gemini. The second was the description of the tunnels from Kuno (Pg15).
Creative and critical thinking were the competencies I used the most. Although I used Ai to generate my picture, I still took it into Canva and made some adjustments. And I had to use my critical thinking to further my prompt to get the product I wanted.
My take away is that if properly done propaganda can be extremely effective in manipulating a population into believing something.
