Digital Footprint

Digital footprint

  • how might your digital footprint affect your future?

1. If you’re planning to apply for a job when you’re older or maybe even next year it can really reflect on your chances on getting that job if you have posted something that you knew you shouldn’t have. Usually people who interview you (your boss) do a background check on you and if they find something wrong you have done I your past it can effect your chances on getting that job, it doesn’t matter if it was last week or last year it can still reflect poorly on you. You might still get the job but there’s always the possibility that you won’t because of a little thing that was in your past.

2. Say you wanted to join a basketball team or swim team or just another sports team, some coaches do google you, some coaches do get into your background online and if they don’t like what they see they won’t put you on the team.

  • Describe 3 strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint safe.

There are a few different things you can do to keep your digital foot print safe but 3 of the mains ones that I’m going to tell you about are:

  1. Have a private account, if you have an Instagram account or facebook, pinterest or anything like that make it private.
  2. Don’t post anything you know you shouldn’t, if u think it’s a bad idea then don’t post it.
  3. Create fake names, if your going to be signing up for something online don’t use your real name unless it’s a trusted website that you or one of your parent have used before.

  • What information did I learn that I could pass on to others?

We went over a few different things but one of the main things I learned was how much an Iphone can pick up, I learned that with an apple phone it tracks where you have been, when you were there, and how often you go there, which is pretty creepy if I’m being honest. Another thing I learned was that your digital footprint exists even before you’re born. And one of the last things I learned that u really aren’t safe when it comes to social media or really anything you do online.
