Here is my blackout poem on the Veldt. I used IbisPaint X to create this poem. I used it to blackout and draw images.
Social Alienation is a very common concept now a days. People disconnect themselves from values, conduct, practices and socials relations of the community or society. Withdrawal and isolation happens when people keep to themselves instead of interacting with peers. In the book The Veldt, technology that surrounded the family is what makes each of them feel segregated and separated from one another. In my black poem I constructed, I perceived social & technology alienation. How our addiction to technology leads to sadness and confinement. “When he sank hovering over it.
Sitting, Screaming and hiding” These lines portray how a person sinks and drowns in the process of technology alienation. “Nobody cares, never—” This line explains how everyone has given up on actual communication, instead they just rely on devices and technology.
Great work Danika – visually powerful. What book did you use?
Thank you very much! I used page 12 of the book 1984 by George Orwell.
