Paper Mache Award – Purpose

1) Find some inspiring pictures of Paper Mache, and of Awards. what do you find aesthetically pleasing. Find 3-6 images that you can include on your Edublog. Why do you like them? What design features do you appreciate?

I’ve only found these trophies pretty nice. I like these because of their colours and details. i really like the shape of these ones because they show a basic traditional trophy.

2) You will need to think about the quality that you are creating an award for, and then design a simplified version of an image that symbolizes this quality. Create a drawing (coloured) of your award. Remember to keep it simple.

For my award I am going to do it for “funniest person” because in my opinion I think I’m pretty funny. I’m constantly making my friends laugh aswell.

this is the design I will be going for

Debrief

Now that my project is completed the process of my project was very simple. At the beginning my group member and I figured out how we would share the work. I am looking over my work and I feel like I did well. I think that my parts in this project are written well and presented nicely. I also feel like the process was very good. My process was to find websites to feed off from. Once I finished, I noticed that I could have added even more detail to the pictures and media. I also figured out that I could have written more. But now that I am done, I am going to embed it. Overall, I feel like the project went very well. It is very nice and full of lots of information.

Self-Reflection

Describe how the artifact you selected shows your strengths & growth in specific core

competencies. The prompt questions on the left – or other self-assessment activities you

may have done – may guide your reflection process.

I think the project went very well. We all did something and helped out with making it. I feel like I now understand the topic way more. I also helped out with most of the project and i helped move all the pieces.

Analysis Questions (after your pictures are done).

1. Why did you decide to model Mitosis or Meiosis- one over the other? Be specific!!!

My group decided to model Mitosis instead of Meiosis because we felt like modelling with Meiosis would take longer than Mitosis. We already missed one day of one of our group members not coming to school.

2. What was the most challenging thing in making your movie?

The most challenging in making the movie was transitioning the models into the other ones

3. What was the easiest thing to do in making your movie?

The easiest thing in making the movie was the voice-over.

4. How could you improve your movie?

I think we could improve our movie by adding more visual looks (like making it look nice)

5. Thinking about how you worked with your partner, what were some of the challenges and successes of working in a group?

The only challenge was sending it to everyone because the file was too large.

6. Why is Mitosis important? In other words, what is the point of cells performing Mitosis?

Mitosis is important to multicellular organisms because it provides new cells for growth and for the replacement of worn-out cells.

7. Why is Meiosis important? In other words, what is the point of cells performing Meiosis?

Meiosis is important because it ensures that all organisms produced via sexual reproduction contain the correct number of chromosomes.

Sgrafitto Tile Final Product

Connected Turtle Tile                       May 3rd, 2022

Danielle Trites

I found this project pretty easy. It was very easy to remember the steps and the different things to do. I found it easy to figure out a design that both me and Anna liked.

During the making of my project I learned that it is very easy to make a tile that connects with somebody. I learned how easy it was to collaborate with my peers. If I had to do this project again I would try to add more details or connect it with another person to give me a challenge.

Sgrafitto Tile Progress

Week 1:

I am going to figure out which tile design I want to do for now. I have made another edublog post about this which will explain in more detail.

This week I am going to be working with clay and make the shape for my tile. My tile is a small square just like everybody else’s. Once I have my shape, I am going to let it dry until the next day.

Now that it is dry, I am going to figure out which underglaze to put on top. This colour is going to be the main colour for my tile. I want it to be super bright so that the scratched imagine shows more.

Now that I have my colour I am going to freestyle my design onto my tile. I am going to lightly scratch the final shape then slowly scratch deeper.

Week 2:

Now that I have my shape, I am going to keep scratching deeper.

My tile now has its design on it.

Now my design is on my tile and the colour is on it I am going to glaze it!
Now that it is clearly glazed I am going to bisqufire it.

My tile is now fully done and super shiny. I am going to take proper photos later.

Sgrafitto tile Information

This is my finished sgrafitto tile. I am really proud of this tile. I love the colour and the way it connects with Anna’s tile. We made the arms connect as you can see. I thought that idea was super cute too. I am  really  proud  of  my  tile.

Even though my tile turned out very well, I still faced a lot of struggles on the way. For one the tile did not stay flat on any surface, and it was wobbling. Another struggle was figuring out which colour to use. I decided to use blue to make it seem like the turtle was swimming.
