Photography – Portfolio

Photography is something I have always liked to do in my free time. I always pick stuff that inspires me and it varies from theme to subject matter, and over all presentation. I have always loved shooting outside and something I use a lot is greenery. Photography is something that I will try to keep with me throughout my lifetime.

 

The first project was Tech Zone. My favorite photo from it is the jeep that is frozen in till. The stillness of the piece just stands out to me.

Next is typology. For this one I was inspired by an example of cupcakes so I chose donuts! I loved the final product, apart from some lighting differences.

Next Historical photo. We had to find a photo and recreate it.

Next Natural light photos. I had lots of hun shooting these photos as I used my softball team for it!

Next Studio light portraits. This image was recreated by me using a professionals template.

Next is avatar. This one I took a picture of my friend and turned it into avatar.

And the final project Pick 3. Where you pick 3 themes and take to pictures for each theme. This specific one was a self portrait.

1984 Documentary- “Who’s watching us now?”

In our documentary “Who is watching us now?” we decided to focus on the question of, how does the concept of “Big Brother” relate to a technological in modern-day society? This documentary is an expository documentary because we are explaining about how modern-day media relates to 1984’s Big Brother. For all the editing Coral used FilmForth and Audacity for the sound. Katelyn filmed the footage and narrated the documentary. We really enjoyed the process of making the documentary and it gave us a chance to work with new people. I would like to do something like this again in the future.

Recognizing a Dystopian Society – “Model Citizens”

Dystopia is a futuristic, imaged universe with the illusion of a perfect society. A dystopian society uses propaganda to control the citizens of the society. With a front man who is worshiped by the society. With everyone under 24-hour surveillance. Where no one feels safe anywhere at any time. Every citizen is the same with no uniqueness or individuality. An example is the Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is a well-known movie series that deals with a frightening world controlled by a totalitarian government that limits the right of its citizens. There is also The 100 a TV series based on a world that had been destroyed. In the short film “Model Citizens” by Dead Sound we see a dystopian society. The people we see in the film have nothing that defines them. They are also fine with just with being killed after they fulfilled their job of raising a model citizen, this is propaganda they are convinced they only have one purpose in live and that’s all they need.

Riverside prepares for this year’s school apparel

Riverside’s Marketing and Promotion class taught by Mr. Rothenberger, will be releasing a variety of new school merchandise.

Mr. Rothenberger’s Marketing and Promotion class is researching and brainstorming merchandise for the 2021-2022 Riverside Secondary school year.

“The process all started with a grand vision of having a place where Riverside students could come to purchase school merch and other convenience items, and also have a place to hang out at lunch, etc.,” said Richard Rothenberger, Marketing and Promotion teacher at Riverside Secondary.

The lounge in room 224 already has stock, “you should come by and check it out anytime before period 2, at lunch, or after period 5.  We have merch on display and ready for purchase, with another large order on the way,” said Rothenberger.

With the new year came new options. In addition to hoodies and crewnecks, they started selling camping blankets, wind breakers, toques, varsity jackets, and other miscellaneous items explained Rothenberger.

The lounge has been approved to use tap to pay making it ever easier for students to pay.

The lounge is adamant about staying open all year long with popular items available to purchase. Although there will be a schoolwide online order system, so that parents and students can pay remotely.

“We would like to help any group within the school that is looking to provide product or raise funds by making our space available as a hub for all purchases in the school,” said Rothenberger.

The students have set up an account on Instagram @theriversidelounge_ with updates on new products, promotion, giveaways, and to provide feedback Rothenberger shared. There will also be advertising on rapidevents, riversideathletics, and on the Riverside web page.

“Our hope is that students will automatically think of the Lounge when they are looking to purchase something,” said Rothenberger.

“At Riverside, the WAVE was originally our school store… thanks to Mr. Bruneau and his support we are now able to re-open the school store and help other departments throughout the school with merchandise sales,” said Rothenberger.
