Capital Punishment in “Two Fishermen”

1) In 1865 the charges for capital punishment were murder treason and rape in the areas of upper and lower Canada. In 1961 the charges are changed to pre meditated murder and murder of a police officer. In 1966 the Capital punishment in Canada was changed to the killing of on duty police officers and prison guards. In 1998 the death penalty was removed

2) I feel like he shouldn’t get the death penalty because he was protecting his wife. What if the judges wife was getting attacked and he killed the other guy. It was probably just out of self defence.
