Michael Foster, the character who portrays the only reporter in his town. While being the only reporter he is also a determined newspaperman in Morley Callaghan’s short story, “Two Fisherman”. One of Michael’s goals is to move up and become better in the journalism world. When he’s older he wants to take his career, “to the city some day and work on an important newspaper”.(Callaghan 1). Michael is a tall, long legged man and he is a very eager man trying to better his career. He works at his local newspaper and has a college education. He lives an average life close to the ocean in a small town which occasionally walks around, “the town on the, dusty road leading to the power-‐house and Smollet’s fishing pier” (Callaghan 2). His talent is gathering info for his newspaper company. His biggest fear is people finding out that he’s friends with the hangman. He couldn’t stand up for his friend which is dragging him down. A word to describe Michael is outgoing because he is willing to do anything for others and himself.
