Measurement 2

In the measurement unit the other thing we learned about was Surface Area and Volumes for many shapes

Th struggle I had with finding SA and volume is that there’s a lot of steps to it and I lose my patience very quickly. Plus if I messed up it’s like multiplication were I can just calculate like that again I have to go through all my steps which will drive me crazy.

I over came my problem by taking on the challenge of doing extra work on a website called IXL which helped me cause I knew the only way I would get better at solving SA and volume is by repeating it and studying it over and over

Here’s a formula sheet that I used to help:

Trigonometry

Trigonometry was the easiest unit to learn this year and it was the first test I did good on :(, the unit was new to me so I learned a lot of new stuff such as SOH CAH TOA and how to find certain angles

The thing is struggled with was pythagororean theorem because I have never been good at that and it’s confused me because I didn’t know what the formula meant and I didn’t know how to solve the equation

How I overcame my problem was by going after school for 10 minutes to get help from Ms. P and I’ve been able to do it very well and really quick because of her helping me

Here is a picture of my understanding of trigonometry:

Polynomials

In the polynomials unit we learned about the distributive property and how to F.O.I.L. The distributive property is a algebra property which is used to multiply a single term and two or more terms inside a set of parentheses.

Something I struggled with in the polynomials unit was the all the variables and letters in the equations, I was confused at first with it but then I realize that all you have to do is just pretty much leave the variables alone and just solve the number part and put the variables on the end of the numbers.

Here is a picture to show how well I understand it:

Measurement

In the measurement unit I learned how to convert different measurements between the SI and Imperial system. Also in measurement we learned about 2 tools that are called the vernier caliper and the micrometer

Something I had trouble with was using the vernier caliper which is a tool used to measure internal and external distances extremely accurately

I overcame that problem by getting help from my friend that sits beside me named Max because he’s really smart and he likes to help me. He helped me by going over the steps, over and over and I’ve been understanding it well since

Here is a picture for my understanding on vernier caliber and the micrometer:

GCF / LCM

Today in class we learned about GCF / LCM which really helps me with my math. To find either the Least Common Multiple LCM or Greatest Common Factor GCF of two numbers, you always start out the same way: you find the prime factorizations of the two numbers. Then you put the factors into a grid of rows and columns. At the top of this post there is a link to a video about GCF and LCM
