Period Table Feedback Reflection: By Cole

1. What I know well about the periodic table: According to the Kahoot quiz I completed in class, lots of the stuff I know about the periodic table, are stuff that I was taught right away in this unit. Questions like “Who is credited as creating the periodic table”, and “About how many elements are there in the periodic table”. The answer to these trivia questions were just engraved into my mind from the very first day that I learned these questions. I also go lots of the questions about atoms right like “How would you describe an atom?”, and “How many electrons can fit in the innermost shell of an atom?”. I think that I got these one’s right because I knew a bit about atoms before starting this unit.

2. What I still need to work on regarding the periodic table: I need to know more about how and why the periodic table is arranged. I got 1 question about periods wrong, and another one about how the periodic table is arranged. For the first question I said that there are 6 periods when there are really 7. For question 2 of “How is the periodic table arranged” I said atomic “by number and atomic mass” but the answer is really by atomic number.

3. What I wonder about the periodic table: I always wondered if people are still trying to find new elements for the periodic table today? And if scientists were trying to find more elements, how would they even do it? My second question is “could there be new elements on different planets?” And if there was a new element, how would it react to the other existing elements?

4. What goals I will set to understand the periodic table better: 1 goal I will set for myself to understand the periodic table better, is to review my notes I took in Class Notebook. I think that most of the questions for the periodic table quiz are in there, so it would be really useful for my understanding if I were to go through and look at everything I wrote.
