My article: Todd: War pushes Ukrainian men and women into traditional roles | Vancouver Sun 

This article is saying that because of the war in Ukraine, able-bodied men from 18-60 years old are being told to stay back home and fight, and not women. Also, because of this there are just mainly Female, and children Ukrainian refugees in neighboring countries like Moldova, Poland, and Romania. It also talks about how war does not care about gender equality. The article is about the Ukrainians, but it also talks about the Russians. The Ukrainian Women and children are mostly fleeing the country, but the men are staying to fight for their country, against the invading Russians. I find war, history, and anything along those lines very interesting, and wish we could do more stuff like this in school. It’s very interesting to see why terrible stuff like this happens.  In the book The Friday Everything Changed, the theme of that book is heavily centered around gender roles. The men get to carry the water bucket because they are bigger better, and stronger. But the women want a chance to do the same. The article is also about gender roles, but this time the men have to fight in war because they are stronger, not just carry a bucket of water.
