Strengths and Weaknesses :
Atomic Theory
Strengths:
- I am able to memorize and interpret the orbital diagrams and their order and know how to apply that knowledge to questions.
- I can read, understand, and interpret ionization energy charts with ease.
- I can recognize different patterns in ionization energy charts and am able to teach my peers the information in detail.
Weaknesses:
- It took me some time to understand atomic radii and the shielding effect.
- Understanding how bond dipoles affect molecular polarity and interactions between molecules was difficult at first.
Bonding
Strengths:
- I understand the different types of chemical bonds (ionic and covalent) and can identify them based on electron configurations, diagrams and equations.
- I am proficient in drawing Lewis structures and predicting molecular shapes using VSEPR theory.
- I can effectively explain the concept of electronegativity and how it affects bond polarity and dipole moments.
Weaknesses:
- Understanding resonance structures and how to depict them correctly was difficult to grasp at first.
The Mole
Strengths:
- I have a solid grasp of mole concept calculations, including conversions between moles, mass, and number of particles.
- I am able to use Avogadro’s number effectively in calculations.
Weaknesses:
- Understanding STP and SATP and the differences between them was difficult to grasp.
