Chemistry 11 Midterm Self Assessment and Goal-Setting

Content

Strengths:

Atomic Theory: I feel like I had a good understanding of trends in the periodic table and could explain topics such as electronegativity and metallic character well. I think it was easy for me to understand because it was a pattern.

Bonding: I felt that at the end of the unit, I had a pretty good understanding of how to draw VSEPR diagrams and their corresponding shapes. I got good at it because I drew it so many times over and over again.

The Mole: After completing the plane crash assignment, I think I got good at doing empirical formula questions. Empirical formula questions were also more fun to do.

Weaknesses:

Atomic Theory: My weakness at the time was electron configuration because I would always make stupid mistakes and write the wrong number or letter.

Bonding: My weakness is the types of bonding such as dipole-dipole, London dispersion, and hydrogen bonding. I think the reason I had a hard time with it was because I would get them mixed up in my head.

The Mole: Honestly, I feel like my weakness in this unit is everything. I found unit conversions confusing as well as converting from one thing to another. Sometimes I don’t even know which unit is the given.
