Piggy, the boy who everyone thinks is funny to pick on. It’s easy to tease the fat kid right, it takes your mind of what is really happening. He’s actually the best person to be in charge on the island. Out of all of the boys he’s their best chance of living and getting home safely because of these following reasons.
Comprehension
Most of the boys on the island aren’t the greatest thinkers, and when it comes to problem solving Piggy is left on his own to figure it out especially if there is a situation that needs to be resolved. He is by far the most intelligent in the group and is always helping Ralph find solutions for any obstacles that come about, especially when the boys are in danger to anything. His judgement is always benefiting others around him.
Maturity
Piggy is always looking out for others and wanting to stick together as a whole. He never wants there to be any problems or any tension within the group. Whenever he is messed with or teased about his weight he never argues or starts any trouble with the other boys because he knows that it is not the civilized thing to do. He has had more experience in life than the other boys because of his age but also because of the events that have occurred in his life. They have impacted him greatly which have caused him to be more aware with his decisions that he makes. He is looked at greatly as an adult figure but the boys in the novel compared to the other boys because of the way he acts and presents himself.
