Chem 11- Midterm Self-Assessment

Self- Assessment -Chem11

Strengths and Weaknesses for each unit:

Atomic theory:

My strengths were writing the electron configurations and drawing the orbital diagram because with the method using the periodic table, it was much easier. My weakness for this unit was explaining the different concepts like why the ionization energy increases along the periodic table, next time I will use simpler terms to explain them.

Bonding:

My strength during the bonding unit was drawing the lewis and VESPR diagrams but only the ones with ONE central atom because it is much easier to first draw the lewis diagram then decide which VESPR shape it is. So my weakness is drawing VESPR diagrams with multiple central atom (2-3) because it’s a bit harder to see which shape they are with the lewis diagram.

The Mole:

This is my best unit so far, I think it’s because we get to use a calculator and all we need to do is decide how to write out the equation .But my weakness would be that I forget to write the units at the end sometimes.

Week 1- Precalc 11

“We don’t grow when things are easy, we grow when we face challenges.”

I think this quote is impactful because I have experienced it many times and learned many things like that.  It’s also a very important part of learning and development . Not only in classes or school but also in your daily life. For example in the past two years chemistry in science class was really easy for me but now that i’m taking chemistry 11, I face new challenges each class. But I also learn  more about the different topics. The same goes with every other class too, sometimes half the semester is easy while you struggle with the rest of it. But in the end everything goes well.
