     In Little Brother, Cory Doctorow tells the story of a 17-year-old suburban teenager named Marcus Yallow, who along with his group of friends, are captured by the DHS and held for questioning about the bombing of a bridge. Doctorow shows that one person, no matter how young can make a difference. After Marcus was interrogated, he was left with questions unanswered and his privacy violated. This prompts him to take down the DHS with only a tiny group, however his voice is heard online and others join in his crusade. To stand up for their freedom, making a difference in the process. Difference meaning, that Marcus and his group won’t allow for the DHS to interrogate nor snoop around innocent peoples’ lives anymore.

Why did the Xnetter’s believe in Marcus’ cause? They believed in it for the sole fact that they did not want to feel like their lives were being encased. They didn’t want to feel like there were eyes everywhere surrounding them 24/7 – they did it to show that they won’t be a property of a controlling government, to prove people had a voice.
